Mike & Liza’s Family Feud: Christmas Clothes — PJ’s or Dress Pants

From December 5, 2018

Dear Mike & Liza,
I’m going to my new husband’s parents house for Christmas this year. When I asked him what to pack he said “just be comfy.” In my family, Christmas is kind of formal. My mother wears slacks and a sweater. My father will wear a collared shirt under a sweater (but no tie) The whole family shows up looking “church ready” and we have a nice dinner and exchange gifts. My husband says his family spends the whole day in sweats and bathrobes. So I guess my question is, can I dress the way I feel comfortable, or do I need to dial it down to fit in? I don’t want to alienate my new family, but I don’t think I can handle Christmas, looking like a slob.
